Design Sketches
Exploring early ideas on paper.
What This Is
A collection of low-fidelity hand-drawn sketches created by each team member. These explored layouts and concepts for:
- Home and feed,
- Club pages and rosters,
- Event details and RSVP,
- Calendar,
- Map and directions,
- Messaging and profiles.
Why We Created It
Sketching allowed us to generate many ideas quickly without worrying about pixel-perfect design. It helped us:
- Compare different layouts,
- Experiment with where features should live,
- Decide which patterns felt intuitive.
How It Connects in the Process
The sketches were directly informed by our personas:
- Students wanted a clear homepage,
- Easy search and filtering for clubs,
- A simple way to see upcoming events,
- Obvious pathways to message organizers and see directions.
What We Changed or Learned
From synthesizing our sketches, we decided to:
- Use a bottom navigation bar for key sections (Home, My Clubs, Calendar, Search, Profile),
- Include categories and filters for clubs,
- Keep event pages clean and focused,
- Support an in-app map for directions,
- Rethink how messaging is accessed so it doesn't feel hidden.
